Let’s investigate Sherlock Holmes!
A valuable painting was stolen from a museum /mjuˈziəm/ at around ten o’clock. Detective Sherlock Holmes and his friend/partner Dr. Watson came to investigate the case/ˈkeɪs/. They questioned different suspects who gave their alibis. William Mc Kenzie who was known as æz a burglar and Ben who was called one-eyed /ˈaɪd/ Ben and who was a former captain ˈkæptɪn/, were chatting.
- Sam Sulky was performing "Hamlet" on stage in front of hundreds of peopleˈpiːpəl/. /Sam Sulky was seen, performing "Hamlet"on stage in front of hundreds of people.
- Jim and Josie were spectators /spɛkˈteɪtər/, watched Hamlet at the Royal Theatre and were disappointed ˌdɪsəˈpɔɪntɪd/ with the performance of Sam Sulky/Sam’s performance.
- George Moneybag, a bank director /dɪˈrɛktər and his wife /ˈwaɪf/ Gina, were having dinner at the Mirage. Her husband told her about the bankruptcy /ˈbænkrʌptsi/ of an actor and that was a boring story.
- Tom Talent was an unknown /ˌʌnˈnəʊn understudy; he was waiting behind /bɪˈhaɪnd/ the stage, ready to play Hamlet if anything happened to Sam.
- Lucy Talent, Tom’s wife, was waiting for him in the kitchen. She said that Tom came home excited /ɪkˈsaɪtɪd/ because he played Hamlet. She also /ˈɔːlsəʊ/ found a bundle of money in his coat/a bundle of money was also found in his coat /ˈkəʊt/
Sam Scully stole the painting because he had money problem. He paid Tom Talent / Tom Talent was paid to take his place in "Hamlet" to get an alibi. That information was given/revealed by Tom’s wife. Sam was guilty, he had a false alibi.

*Irregular verb

*La voix passive peut aussi servir à ne pas donner l'identité de celui qui fait l'action,soit parce que ce n'est pas l'information principale, soit parce que l'identité n'est pas connue; on ne peut vérifier l’information.

L'agent passe au deuxième plan, on laisse les autres deviner ou alors il est évident.
* Des constructions à la voix passive d'un usage fréquent pour traduire: " ON DIT QUE", " ON PENSE QUE", " ON CROIT QUE" / IT IS SAID/THOUGHT/BELIEVED
1/ Formes impersonnelles ➡ It is said that the night brings good advice.
2/ Formes personnelles, Sujet + is said/ thought / believed to be...
➡Kim is thought to be a criminal. (on pense que Kim est un criminel)
